Christians ignoring the Bible have no Right to Expect a special Word from God

They may get that "Word"..... God is good all the time, and shows readily for the willing and the eager to know Him.... but it doesn't seem that there is a right to demand it from God.

To expect it.

I have been around conversations lately where so many Christians were searching for their own, personal "word" from God. Why God doesn't talk back. And even while not searching deeply for Him, there was a universal expectation that God would build on their lives. Give them answers.

I know that we must be In the Word - because the Word of God is Holy, and It is Our Instruction. Our Guide. And I am pretty sure that God doesn't build and support on sand but only on His Foundation. So how can people expect God to do or perform or hear them when they are not running towards Him?

Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. Matthew 7:24-27

Christ is the Rock of our Lives: Indeed, the center of civilization. How can anyone expect a WORD when they are not building on The Rock. We have to thirst for it, we have to want it. This got me to looking into verses that discuss hearing the Word of God. This book, this Bible...is so alive.

Colossians 3:16

Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

John 8:31

So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine;

John 15:7

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

1 Thessalonians 2:13

For this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe

1 John 2:14

I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

The Word reaches us when we reach for it. I started out saying I can't understand the Bible when I read it. Now I know: I ask for Guidance as I read. And, I also have teachers online that I have come to discern and respect that go deep into the Word. And, I have my favorite Pastors that I am blessed to be able to be in person and live with a community. Seeking for my own Word - every day, every decision, every time.

I am late in putting my full trust in Jesus, but I am all in. I am listening. I am leaning in. And I am reading everyday, out loud.

New King James Version
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
