When did the Name of Jesus lose Power?
I have recently learned the term "Cessation Church" - and have come to see why I am at odds so suddenly with a church I thought would be home to me.
Jesus, according the Bible, the Word - healed everyone He encountered, everyone who had asked for healing, even remotely. He was always Willing (Matthew 8:3) Is there any instance in the Bible where He was Not Willing?
No. There is a universal confidence in Jesus and the Story. No doubt was left behind for us to consider to anyone who asked.
So when did the church introduce the phrase "If it be Thy Will" when Jesus ONLY showed it was indeed His will to heal everyone He encountered and who asked in faith. It was not a question. "Jesus healed all that came to Him (Matthew 4:23, Luke 9:6, Luke 9:11).
In Isaiah 35, "He will come and save you. Then will the eyes of the blind be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then the lame with leap like a dear, and the tongue of the mute shall shout for joy."
Matthew 8:17 "This is to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah, saying He took up our infirmities and bore our sicknesses."
Healing and Salvation are connected. So when did the Church introduce doubt, and why? For what thinking is there a large number of churches that believe the works died with the Apostles? Died before our time. When did the Church deny and doubt the Power in the Name of Jesus? It seems as though there is a general, loose agreement among Christians that Jesus is the Saviour of the world. But I have been shocked to discover a clear line between Christians who have no faith in the Power of God, and the Power in the Name of Jesus - to heal, bring forth, to create the seemingly impossible. And those that don't.
Salvation is in the Blood. When people sing that at church in worship - what is the thought behind that?
By His stripes we Were and we Are HEALED. When did Christians begin to question this?
What about the Centurion with such faith, healing at a distance in Matthew 8:9?
I am an ACTS CHURCH. I am finding my faith in the works of Jesus through my own faith.
Jesus said," Behold I give you authority." "To cast our unclean spirits and to heal every kind of sickness and disease (Matthew 10:11) and when people have said Jesus, I don't have that power that was Yours, He said: "You shall receive your power when the Holy Spirit comes Upon You." (ACTS 1:8)
I have come to see this division of belief between Revival/Deliverance Churches and mega-churches and churches of comfort. Still new to me, but I have been delivered, exorcised and have cast out demons from family curses. I have witnessed literal healing 5 feet away from me as I prayed over the saint healing someone - from color blindness to an ability to walk. I have seen it. Why wouldn't every Christian be hungry for this?
I will keep my journey updated. I believe in the Power of the Name of Jesus. I believe this is why He died. I believe in the Power of the Blood and need only to learn how to use this in my life.
I will keep reading and asking and studying and praying:
IT IS ALL IN HERE. He wrote a book for us.
LOVE is the Power of the Name.
