her·me·neu·tic ˌhər-mə-ˈnü-tik

2
a method or principle of interpretation
a philosophical hermeneutic

Okay...so what the heck does That mean to me? The purpose of biblical hermeneutics is to help us to know how to properly interpret, understand, and apply the Bible.

Interpret Literally. Also, one law of biblical hermeneutics is that passages must be interpreted historically, grammatically, and contextually. Interpreting a passage historically means researching and digging to understand the culture, background, and situation that prompted the text. It is truly fun to go deep. Over and Over I say to people that are non-believers... Jesus is Not What You Think and the Word studies you as you study the Word.  IT IS TRUE!

Whew, Okay so this becomes a study-guide way to study and learn the Bible. The Word. I use several study guides and also watch several teaching pastors as I continue to hunger for a deeper and more expansive grasp and active understanding from God and His Word.

And it seems that interpretation and then application is one of the things that both brings the church together as well as divide the church never as Jesus intended. Hermeneutics methods are literal, allegorical, anagogical, and moral. Of course I love my Pastor Greg Locke and his preaching. Another teacher that has helped me very much is Skip Heitzig and his total Bible review.

ALSO: I am reading the Bible in a year with THE BIBLE RECAP. "Hello Bible Readers!"
