The Son of God became man so men could become Sons of God
I just love the way Lehmann Strauss wrote this out for us:
The Incarnation of Jesus Christ
The word incarnation does not occur in the Bible. It is derived from the Latin in and caro (flesh), meaning clothed in flesh, the act of assuming flesh. Its only use in theology is in reference to that gracious, voluntary act of the Son of God in which He assumed a human body. In Christian doctrine the Incarnation, briefly stated, is that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became a man. It is one of the greatest events to occur in the history of the universe. It is without parallel.
THIS is from Wikipedia
The Word became flesh to make us "partakers of the divine nature": "For this is why the Word became man, and the Son of God became the Son of man: so that man, by entering into communion with the Word and thus receiving divine sonship, might become a son of God."
"For the Son of God became man so that we might become God."
HOW RADICAL IS THIS?
The Law wasn't given to remove sin but to reveal sin. Rule, Law was added because of transgressions. To show the wrong things that people do is against God's will, underlining the existence and the extent - of sin.
We got too comfortable in the lap of compromise... and the church is asleep.
METASTREPHO - means to turn it around, to go back - instead of forward into God's given Liberty and Grace.
Law vs Works - what can we do to do better, be better?
John 6:29 "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent."
As I am studying this book, this 30 day workbook - I am changed. I don't like workbooks, but this one has reached into my heart.
Every day I read the verse assigned, and I then read the entire chapter in my NKJV Study Bible. Then I also read those verses across several translations from my phone. All in all, it is bringing me directly into deeper thoughts of crucifixion, of WHY God and Jesus would do this, and what it really, truly means. And I find layer and layer stripping away through my tears of gained understanding of this GIFT and why Keeping it Warm.... serves my relationship with Jesus so profoundly.
I just found out that there is also a video course for these same 30 days, so I am going to do that after I do my journaling first go around!
Here is the course and it is free. I can't wait to get started on this.
