Psalm 19 Again ~ The Heavens, The Word, and The Glory of God

So, first let me say that this picture I chose is soooooo like the new age graphics I would use for things. Self Growth. Self Awareness. InnerChild.

So striking it is to me that even artwork that admittedly, style-wise I love, can speak to me so anew and refreshed. Minor point perhaps, but huge for me.

I read Psalm 19 - again.
I almost didn't, today. With so much to read "my" thinking was that I just studied it recently... just read it recently... I got it. Move on. Keep going. Keep expanding.

Nope.
Keep Digging.

So This Time... as I read I was caught up in new things.
Exactly as "the Living Word" is supposed to behave with me and me with It. New, always New.

Verse 1-4 Always spoke to me. God is so clearly scripted in my world, and all around me. Woe to ME if I choose not to witness and praise:

The heavens declare the glory of God;
And the firmament shows His handiwork.
Day unto day utters speech,
And night unto night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech nor language
Where their voice is not heard.
Their line has gone out through all the earth,
And their words to the end of the world.

Romans 2:15 and so many other VERSES have taught me now that the old argument - "what about the warrior in the Amazon who never sees a Bible?" (which...  is an argument when people themselves just don't want to pick up the Word and SEE what it does to and for them...  an aside)...
Anyway, there are so many verses over and over and over that teach: the Lord God is written on our hearts. Man, mankind, me.
I love knowing (now) that the Bible teaches Itself To me:
Hebrews 8:10 Tells me. Jeremiah 31 Tells me. Romans 2 tells me.

(I did a quick (ESV) search and there were so many I dropped the rest to the bottom, if you are interested because it is huge, and not really what I wanted to talk about today.)

Hebrews 8:10 ESV /

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Jeremiah 31:33 ESV /

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Romans 2:15 ESV

They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them.

So, wow that little exercise alone blew me away.
See, the Word, truly, and as promised... is always surprising, delighting and exhorting us. I will go back and read all these verses below. The Lord has written onto OUR HEARTS... so that when we, having never "seen or heard" the Bible... see the stars above us and we know. See the eyes of an infant, and we know. We Know that God Is.

So, what I really thought I was to share this morning is back to New Age, Self. Awareness... thinking we are creators rather than the created.

But that God Knew me, Created me, Knew my story, Knows my today - before I was even a speck. He thought about me and He thinks about me.
So overwhelming, this awareness He has of "me".

And with it (Ah, finally the point!) is both the Joy in this Truth and the Fear in this Truth:

Verse 11

Moreover by them Your servant is warned,
And in keeping them there is great reward.

Warning is needed for sins we are susceptible to.

Warning is needed for dangers we cannot see.

Warning is needed for dangers we cannot appreciate.

Warning is needed for dangers far off in the future.

Warnings are often rejected.  (re:enduring word Bible study)

God knows everything I have long forgotten: Before I knew Jesus....  except... HE was Written on my Heart!

Verse 12-13

Who can understand his errors?
Cleanse me from secret
faults.

Ah, David shows me this morning, that I TOO have ignored and disobeyed God so much more than I am even aware of. I have sinned and I have forgotten. I am not pure in my repentance.
God misses nothing. I am lazy to my sins.

THIS has shaken me up.

God Forgive me.
I know You do, and that before I was born You sent Your Son to forgive ALL sins, committed, and all yet to come in my life still, for still and again I am a sinner.
So I DO KNOW YOU have forgiven me, yet, I must acknowledge this in some small human way with my words.
Forgive me, Help me, I repent openly and earnestly for sins I am both aware of and all that I shall be judged for that I am unaware of.

FOR YOU ARE WRITTEN ON MY HEART.

2 Corinthians 3:3 ESV
And you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

Jeremiah 31:31-34 ESV

“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”

For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you. Again I will build you, and you shall be built, O virgin Israel! Again you shall adorn yourself with tambourines and shall go forth in the dance of the merrymakers. Again you shall plant vineyards on the mountains of Samaria; the planters shall plant and shall enjoy the fruit. ...

Hebrews 10:1-39 ESV

For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near. Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have any consciousness of sins? But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said, “Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired, but a body have you prepared for me; ...

1 Corinthians 9:1-2 ESV

Now the point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, a minister in the holy places, in the true tent that the Lord set up, not man. For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices; thus it is necessary for this priest also to have something to offer. Now if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, since there are priests who offer gifts according to the law. They serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things. For when Moses was about to erect the tent, he was instructed by God, saying, “See that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown you on the mountain.” ...

1 John 2:1-29 ESV

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments.
