EFFICIENT..... VS..... SUFFICIENT. A Study of God's Grace

As I was reading today, Friday, the day after Thanksiving 2025..... I was going so slowly, taking time.
And I found myself in wonder over Efficiency and Sufficiency.

"The only role I have in my salvation
is the sin that required it."
(Augustine of Hippo)

What a Sobering Statement...... Truth that.
So it got me thinking deeply into Efficiency and Sufficiency.

Jesus' death is offered to all, is Sufficient for ALL.
Jesus' death is Efficient Only to those of us who receive Him.
Let that sink in.

Jesus’ death is big enough for everyone,

but It only saves those who are united to Him by faith.

John 1:29 – “the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.”

1 John 2:2 – Jesus is “the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.”

John 3:16 – God loved the world and gave His Son so that whoever believes should not perish.

Hebrews 2:9 – Jesus tasted death “for everyone.”

How valuable is the atonement? → Infinite, enough for all.

Because Christ’s death is sufficient for all, we can say to absolutely anyone:

“If you come to Christ, you will not find the door locked.
His blood is enough for you.”

To whom is the atonement applied? → Only those who receive Christ in faith.

Because the cross is efficient for those of us who believe, we can assure a believer:

“If you are in Christ, your sins are truly paid for.
God isn’t waiting to see if something else will be added.
The atonement for you is not hypothetical—it is applied.”

If Christ’s death is sufficient for all,
but someone rejects Him, their condemnation is not because the cross was too weak, but because they refused the only sufficient Savior.

How did I choose to recieve Him?
How did He choose to open me to Him?
By what Miracle were my eyes opened, Pat's death a catalyst for my action beyond words?

I am sitting with this Miracle of Miracles today.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for saving my life and for gently teaching me, more and more, why You have given me this precious gift.

I am unworthy, yet I am not unwilling. Teach me how to walk in holiness with You.
